COMPENSATION WATCH

Compensation Watch

When a data breach happens, companies sometimes offer condolence payments or compensation for losses. These are voluntary, not legal obligations, so responses vary widely by incident. This page records and compares each company's announced remedies, based on official announcements and news reports.

Incidents with announced payments or compensation

Incidents where the company announced monetary remedies such as condolence payments or compensation for unauthorized transactions. Check each company's official announcement for eligibility, amounts, and application procedures.

Incidents with conditional compensation policies only

Incidents where the company only announced policies such as compensating losses if unauthorized use is confirmed. No unconditional payment has been announced.

Incidents with no compensation announcement found

Major incidents for which no compensation or condolence payment announcement could be found as of our survey. Companies may announce remedies later — refer to their official pages.

How this page is compiled

  • Remedy announcements are recorded from official company statements (notices, FAQs) and news reports.
  • "No announcement found" means none was found at the time of survey — it does not confirm absence of remedies.
  • Amounts, eligibility, and procedures can change after announcement; always verify with the company's latest official statement.
  • This page tracks voluntary corporate remedies (condolence payments, reimbursements), distinct from court-ordered damages.

If you may have been affected

Remedy notices are also a target for scams and phishing that exploit breach incidents. Take a calm, careful approach.

  • Beware of emails, SMS, or calls posing as "condolence payment" notices that ask for bank transfers or personal information. Do not open unfamiliar URLs.
  • Verify any notice through the contact information published on the company's official website.
  • If you find transactions or charges you don't recognize, contact the service provider and the police consultation line (#9110).
  • First change passwords and enable multi-factor authentication on any service that may have been affected.
